Yes, Terra Lynn Photography took a short break from our photography clients to literally move across the world to New Zealand!!!
Initially, the family and I were just going to tour Oceania for a year, but fell in LOVE with New Zealand and their amazing people, that we just could not leave <3!
We are now settled and I am beginning the amazing journey to introduce New Zealand to High School/College Senior Photography!
I really wanted to define what Senior Photography means for me and why I am passionate about it, when creating our new motto. So here it is: Experience Style, Experience Confidence
Because our photography is all about:
- the EXPERIENCE of being creative together to capture the personality of each senior, in their own way
- the STYLE of creating different looks in the same area, simply by the turn of the camera or a new accessory
- the CONFIDENCE our teens feel during and after the session, when they realize they are beautiful, without all of the Photoshop editing
As my 2013 Seniors said so well: Persevere, Dedicated & Determined
Keep a lookout for updates! Cheers from New Zealand!
p.s. I blogged about our adventure in world travel at www.CaringBees.com/blog, if interested
It has been quite a while since last blogging or updating my FB page… Well, some rather rapid life changes occurred, which took me off course for awhile.
My husband and I have always set life goals together. This contributes to a large part of our successes and what ultimately holds us together. A while back, pre-children, we lived in California. We moved back to Indiana to be close to family, once our son was born. Ever since then, in the back of our minds, we felt the need to strive for warmer climates, again.
One day, I suggested we place our home on the market. If it sold, we move to California, if it didn’t, then we stay in Indiana. Pretty simple. Although, the thought was simple, we are not ready for what actually transpired…. In three days, our home was SOLD! Yes, SOLD. You guessed it, SOLD!
Ugh…What about the business? What about family? What about getting a job in CA? Oh, the questions were ample, but ultimately…our destiny was California! We took on the challenge and started to settle into our new ways of life.
Since then, I put the business on hold to help my children acclimate to CA. This opened my eyes to getting back to our simple roots. I started researching chemicals in our food and was SHOCKED! Food was NOT what it use to be! All of this time, I had such blinders on.
Also, during this time, I continued to network with local businesses, such as Steward Butler, a hospitality and cleaning company, to utilize my talents towards commercial photography.
In the meantime, I hope to start working on tutorials for bloggers, aspiring photographers and families who just want better photos from their cameras.
So, stay tuned!!!
My name is Christine Eshak and I just recently graduated from Andrean High School. About two months ago, I was searching for photography places to get my senior pictures done. I spent so many hours on the internet searching for reasonable priced photographers that has good quality pictures. Let me tell you, it was not an easy task. One day I was on Facebook and I came across a school friend’s senior pictures. I absolutely loved them and so I asked her for details about where she got them done at. This is how I stumbled upon Terra Lynn Photography.
This was my first time getting professional pictures taken of me so I was a little nervous and feeling awkward, but Terrie made me feel comfortable and welcome straight away. It was such a great experience with her because she is such a fun and happy person! My siblings also came with me for support and she was super friendly to them as well. She even had them model for a bit and took pictures of them. Then at the end of the session she gave each of us a hug goodbye. My pictures were simply amazing and I am completely satisfied with how they turned out. You know someone is really good at what they do if it is what they love. This is the case with Terrie. She gets really into it and you can tell that it is her passion and it is proven in her work. I recommend Terra Lynn Photography to everyone and I promise you will not be disappointed.
Kayla’s chalk board inspirational word is: Perservere
“When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit-
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a fellow turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow -
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man;
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor’s cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint in the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It might be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit -
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.” ~Unknown~
My favorite line in this poem is “Success is failure turned inside out” because it reminds me that no matter how bad things may look on the outside success is still an option. Perseverance is your attitude and how much you are willing to push yourself, because you never know how close you are to changing your life, or someone else’s. Embrace the hardships in your life because it is often in the darkest skies that we see the brightest stars.

Kayla is our 2013 Senior Model from Andrean High School. She has wrote a wonderful review of our local Cooper’s Hawk restaurant. Please enjoy!
“Cooper’s Hawk, located in Southlake Mall, is a winery and restaurant combination. Although a winery I think that Cooper’s Hawk is perfect for teens as well. Cooper’s Hawk as a plethora of menu options and wine pairing suggestions with every meal for the adults. I have been about four times now, ordering something different every time, and every meal I have gotten has been spot on. The food is delicious, and there are even a variety of options if you have little ones dinning out with you. While dinner is good, dessert is to die for. The deserts are made when you order which allows you to taste how fresh the ingredients really are. My favorite dessert is the banana caramel ice cream sandwich. The banana bread is made fresh so it is served hot with ice cream in between the two slices with a caramel sauce drizzled on top. To accommodate all customers Cooper’s Hawk also offers a Life Balance menu and a Gluten Free menu. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!” ~ Kayla

Read about what BELIEVE means to her:
“BELIEVE. The last 10 months for me have been great, exciting, sad, scary, and sometimes frustrating. I had been told many times that I should go into modeling. I didn’t know if I could model because I can be quiet at times. As I got older, I decided to go for it. I started shooting with photographers to build a portfolio. Terra Lynn Photography was one of my earlier shoots, and still one of my favorites. The positive responses to the pictures happened quickly, and then I met the person who would become my manager. He BELIEVED in me, a quiet 17 year old girl, and worked for hours, and days with me. He taught me the right way to tackle this crazy business.
While my friends are sleeping in on the weekends, I am in Chicago shooting early in the morning. I am home around 3pm, so I still have time for friends. It is hard work. What I have done in 10 months can sometimes take 3 years to accomplish. At times I have had to miss fun times with friends. But I still love it. Many people think you just show up, and smile. This is not the case. I’ll write a blog on this later. I have met so many great stylist, makeup artists, designers, & and photographers. I have had frustrations too. Not every modeling agency will like your look and sign you. You have to shake it off if you are turned down, and just keep trying.
I am now with 3 modeling agencies, been published 3 times in print, 1 book, and a calendar. I have done over 35 shoots, The American beauty show, 1 commercial, hair contests, and stand in work. I will be able to do more when I turn 18 in March. I have a great team that I work with. So for my chalkboard shoot with Terra Lynn Photography, I choose the word BELIEVE. I do BELIEVE I can do this. I will go as far as I can with it, and I’m attending college after I graduate.Keep away from those who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you believe that you too can become great.” ~ Amanda
Here at Terra Lynn Photography, I spend time learning about each high school senior I photograph. I use this as an opportunity to find what their passions are, not only photograph them, but inspire and encourage them to believe in themselves. Once this is achieved, others will listen and potentially help towards their goal, just as Amanda’s mentor did for her in her modeling career.
Congratulations Amanda for following your dreams and challenging yourself to new levels!
Here at Terra Lynn Photography, we encourage our models to blog about things they are doing, seeing, following or going through. Here is Ramsey’s first blog for us, a movie review for “Django Unchained”. Please comment or like to let him know your thoughts!
“The movie is about a black slave turned bounty hunter named Django(Jamie Foxx) he and his partner Dr.Scholtz go all around the south collecting bounty for the corpses of notorious murders, rapists, and criminals. Django, while learning to become a quick hand with a gun, is also searching for his wife Hilda(Kerry Washington) who was separated at a slave auction. The movie is filled with suspense and drama. And has big name stars in it such as Samuel L Jackson and Leonardo DiCaprio. It is a must watch for the season and is sure to be nominated for an award pretty soon.”

Here is a beautiful poem from our Crown Point Senior Model, Cassie.
She wrote about her grandma, Linda, who was her super hero growing up.
Cassie says “Everyday I try to be my best because I know it would make her proud.”
I cry every night
Hoping June 11th was
Just a dream that
Gave me a fright
Do you know how
Much I need you?
Can you see this blonde
Girl crying for how much
She misses you too
The tears that fall
Remind me of it all
The pain, the tears..
While holding you close,
Now you not being here
Is when I miss that
Do you see me
Like me, do you feel
The pain of every tear?
Every morning I look
At the clouds above,
Hoping to see a glimpse
Of you to say you still
Are missed and forever
And a post is not a post without a gorgeous large photo of Cassie
